To keep you and us safe,
and to safeguard the welfare of your pet

We are providing home visits for EUTHANASIA and SELECT URGENT CASES*

We are not doing home visits for non-urgent and routine cases.

We are unable to provide a home visit if someone in the household has had coronavirus/Covid-19 symptoms within the past 14 days.

*SELECT URGENT CASES include urgent and potentially urgent cases with pain or distress where:

  • distress, pain, suffering are present, or will be if treatment is delayed
  • a telemedicine (remote) consultation or remote prescribing is not available or is not suitable
  • hospitalisation or certain diagnostics are not required
  • collapsed large dogs in pain that absolutely cannot be transported to a clinic

Clients and pets registered with Home Visit Vet

  • Contact us via email or phone and we will assist in the manner appropriate for your pet’s symptoms or illness
  • PHONE CONSULTATIONS and VIDEO CONSULTATIONS are available where suitable
  • Repeat prescriptions can be filled subject to an initial phone or video consultation
  • Prior to an in-home or remote consultation, we will email you our ‘Veterinary Advice Form’. Upon review we will decide the best course to address your concerns for your pet – a phone or video consultation, a home visit, or referral to a veterinary hospital

Clients and pets NOT registered with Home Visit Vet

We can provide home visits for:

  • Euthanasia
  • Select urgent cases by referral from your usual veterinary practice. You must first contact your vet to see if they can help you.
  • Homes within our serviced area – refer to the area serviced page

Non-urgent, routine cases and queries: we are unable to provide a home visit or provide specific advice for patients not registered with us.

Personal Protection Policy

To comply with government and veterinary regulations, our current home visit policy requires:

  • social distancing of 6 feet (2 metres) to be adhered to
  • only one person present in the room at a time (two in special circumstances)
  • we physically attend only to essential emergencies (or cases that are highly likely to become an emergency if not treated) as outlined above

Our in-home appointment time is currently limited to 30 minutes where possible.
Detailed conversations are to be conducted outside your home; e.g. prior to or after the home visit or in your garden if you have one, to try to limit the time within the home to no more than 30 minutes.

If someone in the household comes under the vulnerable category, do let us know from the outset so we can determine whether a home visit is appropriate and how we may help.

These policies are subject to change as the coronavirus/COVID-19 situation develops.
